Paralegal
Cheryl Taylor

Cheryl originally joined Coaty and Woods as a paralegal in 2013. While she has experience in all types of law the firm practices, she focuses primarily on family law. Prior to joining Coaty and Woods, Cheryl worked in both the private sector for attorneys and for the Colorado Courts, first as the Self-Help Center Coordinator, teaching divorce classes for pro se litigants and providing instruction and forms for filing. After seeing the vast numbers of distressed people passing through her self-help center, Cheryl vowed never to treat them as a number, but as an individual going through a very personal and emotional time.
Following some time working in the Juvenile department, she was selected as a Judge’s clerk, managing all aspects of the courtroom, documents, exhibits, jurors and docket. This experience with the courts leant itself to a broad knowledge of all District Court case types, and a particular expertise in family law matters. Her extensive courtroom knowledge provides invaluable experience to Coaty and Woods and a familiarity with the way the courts operate internally. Having 26 years of experience as a paralegal, Cheryl prides herself on guiding clients through a difficult time with compassion, ease and clear direction.
After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Evansville, Cheryl obtained a Paralegal Certificate from the Denver Paralegal Institute. Cheryl has played Clarinet as a member of the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, the Colorado Wind Ensemble and Evergreen Chamber Orchestra. Currently, she is a substitute clarinet for the Jefferson Symphony Orchestra. In her free time, Cheryl enjoys her family, music, many dogs, traveling, working in the yard, and hopefully pursuing a dream of adding some rescue donkeys to the herd.
